We are determined to make substantial contributions to the water industry that will   pave the way to innovative design concepts and applications.  From a plumbing standpoint, we are closely involved in the upgrades to backflow preventers and uninterrupted water systems - to new design concepts for the landscape industry to control high pressure water breaks with specialty stations and automatic control valves..

Bernard Clarke, Owner of Backflow Prevention Device Tester and Clarke Sales began his career in 1963 as a licensed plumber .  He worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District before starting his own business in 1976 - Backflow Prevention Device Tester.

Backflow Prevention Device Tester is a service company that tests, installs, repairs, and replaces backflow prevention assemblies for customers ranging from commercial buildings and schools to private residential and Home Owner Associations.

Clarke Sales was established in 1980 to provide manufacturers with valve testing and research.  Since then, we have also become distributors for Watts Regulator and have opened our warehouse up for direct sales to contractors.

Industry Contributions & Involvement Include:

• Designed in collaboration with Watts Regulator the PVS-1000 Station, BIC-1000 Station, C115 LAUSD and other specialty
•  valves
• Author of various industry related articles for nationwide magazines since 1980
• Speaker at nationwide seminars focusing on the process of backflow testing
• Designed in collaboration with Watts Regulator the first polymer-coated backflow
• Assisted in the development and training of water company Cross Connection Programs for Valencia, California and Las Vegas, Nevada
• Contributed effort towards one of the largest retro-fitting backflow recall ordered by the Los Angeles Department of Health Services
• Contributed research and information related to design upgrades for the industry's first mandated ball valve on backflows
• Developed the first DCDA test procedure for the Valencia Water Company in 1991 and still used today
• Developed the 1-Hose Test Procedure still undergoing ASSE review for approval
